Washing makeup brushes might be the second worst thing to washing dishes- at least you can put those in the dishwasher and call it a day! It's so important to wash your brushes daily to avoid bacteria, breakouts, and product build-up. Here are three easy ways to wash your brushes that will keep your bristles and beauty fresh for as long as possible.
1. brush mat
This may be one of the cleanest and easiest ways to clean your brushes. You can stick it in your sink or counter and go to work on your brushes, really getting in between the bristles with your cleanser or soap and water, depending on what kind of brushes you have. If you don't want to spend $25 on the Sigma Beauty pad pictured above, you can go to the dollar store and find a pad very similar, though it may not have all of the patterns above.
2. Cleansing spray
Sephora has an amazing Daily Cleansing Brush that doesn't require any water or soap, and yes, it really works! Just spray this mist on a paper towel or cloth (not directly on the brush) and watch the makeup start to transfer onto the surface. This spray is great because it doesn't require any alcohol and is formulated with lemon, lime, grapefruit, tea tree oils to cleanse your brushes the natural way. Let them air dry after cleaning and they're good as new.
3. Good old fashion wash and dry
Using your favorite brush cleanser (shampoo, olive oil, hand soap, etc) simply swirl your brushes in the solution, run them under water and let them dry overnight.
