When you get on the internet, almost daily, you can be sure to find a new article about the latest tech start-up, a product you wish you’d started, or an ad with a headline reading: “50 Side Hustles You Can Pick Up To Help You Pay Off Your Student Loans”
Don’t act like you’ve never clicked that link before!
Seeing that, it’s no wonder our generation is so ambitious and anxious for success: According to Forbes, 72% of millennials want to be their own boss, but you probably already knew that.
Everyday, simply by scrolling down our timelines, we witness the "success" of those we admire, and naturally, we want the same outcome, acknowledgement, and independence-of some sort- for ourselves. Be it through media coverage, or social media, we are forced to experience the achievements of those around us even when we don't realize it.
For many people, the ability to “witness” the successes of others can often make one feel as though their own accomplishments are not worth mentioning or celebrating. This is extremely dangerous and so far from the truth:
While you (or I) may not be exactly where you want to be, it’s important that you appreciate the present and take the time to acknowledge all that you have done to get to where you are, regardless of what anyone else is doing.
Try and remember:
1. Nothing great happens overnight
2. EVERY STEP COUNTS
3. Be proud of yourself
Give yourself the props you deserve; you'll need that energy to keep going as you get closer to your goals.
4. Take time to treat yourself
Buy a bottle of wine (if you’re legal!)
Get a facial.
Take A REAL DAY OFF.
Unplug and just do something you love.
Write a list of things you have accomplished between last year and this year.
Share your accomplishments with those closest to you.
If you’re feeling brave (we know you are), share something you've accomplished this year that you’re proud of below!!
